Police detective Walter O'Brien encounters a female victim at a homicide scene. Or is she? Thus starts a lifelong pursuit of a serial killer, or maybe a family of killers?
Good story if you're comfortable briefly suspending reality.
Stand alone novel, which was nice.

Subtracted 1/2 a star because of the animal stuff. I don't need to know/think about how forest fires affect the local wildlife. Also, some of the cow stuff made me sad.
