Book #33 in 2015

After the Storm by Linda Castillo.

A tornado rips though the county and uncovers human bones that have been buried for 30 years.  Evidence points to foul play.  Police Chief Kate Burkholder must investigate while also dealing with the aftermath of the tornado, and a personal struggle of her own.

Book #32 in 2015

Black-Eyed Susans by Julia Heaberlin.

I thought this was going to be a five star book until I got to the end, which I found a bit convoluted.  Otherwise, excellent page-turner about a girl, left for dead in a mass grave, who returns to her Texas home and has a hard time coping for the rest of her life.

4 stars.

Book #31 in 2015 (Audio)

The Wrong Girl by Hank Phillippi Ryan.  Read by Ilyana Kadushin.

13.5 hours.

Boring story with characters I didn't care about.  I only finished it because I had it in the car.

2 stars.

Book #30 in 2015

Invisible Ellen by Shari Shattuck.

Ellen spends her days trying to be invisible due to a scarred (literally and figuratively) childhood.  Life changes when she accidentally meets and becomes friends with a plucky blind woman.  I liked this much more than I expected to.  It was sort of like an adult fairy tale.

Book #29 in 2015

Tail Gait by Rita Mae Brown and Sneaky Pie Brown.

Harry Harristeen and company work to solve the murder of a local history professor and a homeless man.  Are the two related?  In tandem is another story about the Revolutionary War and the prisoners held in Albermarle county.

I was annoyed by the war story being inserted, mostly because there were so many characters to keep straight, but it was all nicely tied together at the end.   Also, nice that Matilda got to be a hero.

3.5 stars, but add a half star if you're particularly interested in history, which I'm not.
