Invisible Ellen by Shari Shattuck.
Ellen spends her days trying to be invisible due to a scarred (literally and figuratively) childhood. Life changes when she accidentally meets and becomes friends with a plucky blind woman. I liked this much more than I expected to. It was sort of like an adult fairy tale.
